As the only NMR facility on campus, the NMR resource at IMSERC supports Northwestern research by performing liquid, solid powder analysis on a variety of small molecule samples, drug candidates, catalysts, organic LEDs and energy storage networks, as well as macromolecules. The IMSERC hosts a total of eight state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers, including seven liquid instruments and one solid. Among them are two highly automated instruments with robot sample changers for quick 1D and 2D data acquisition. Six of them are Agilent/Varian VNMRJ and two are Bruker topspin systems.
The Bruker automation liquid instrument (Ag500) is housed at B530 of Silverman Hall to serve users at that building. The other seven are located at BG75 of TECH and currently staffed by two spectroscopists, Yuyang Wu at BG51 (1-7080) and Yongbo Zhang at BG57 (7-1222).
